Presentation of the EleNa prototype
On Friday, 22.7.2011, the EleNa partners presented the converted hybrid delivery van to a select audience at the Stuttgart exhibition centre. The interested visitors, amongst them, a member of the German parliament, Ute Vogt, were able to test drive the hybrid transporter on the road.
The vehicle was converted to a diesel-electric drive by the EleNa project partners within the framework of a project subsidised by the Stuttgart model region for electric mobility. The transporter now has four operation modes:
- the original combustion engine
- a solely electric drive
- the boost mode
- the charging mode
The electric traction drive enables emission-free inner city and local journeys. For longer journeys the conventional diesel drive is available.
The subsidised project electric drive retrofit kits for diesel delivery vehicles, EleNa for short, is a cooperation between medium-sized companies. The presented transporter serves as a prototype and base for development of diesel-electric retrofit kit to enable a fast and economic transition to the new mobility form.
More details concerning the operation modes of the parallel drive, technical data and the participating companies are available here.
